In October 2026 there are three common ways to put Meta Ads inside Claude or ChatGPT: Meta's own ads connector, Pipeboard, and Tera Ads Connect. Meta's is the deepest on Meta itself, Pipeboard covers Meta and Google Ads with unlimited calls on paid plans, and Tera Ads Connect adds what neither sees: your Shopify orders, returns and profit. Pick by the question you need answered, not by the number of tools.

Key takeaways

  • All three are remote MCP servers: you paste an address into your assistant and sign in, with no code.
  • Meta's connector reads and changes Meta campaigns and also covers catalogs, signal checks and lift studies.
  • Pipeboard adds Google Ads and has a free plan of 30 tool calls a week; paid plans remove the cap.
  • Tera Ads Connect answers from your store's orders, so profit after returns is part of every answer.
  • Every option can change your ads; decide what your assistant may do before you connect any of them.

What a Meta Ads MCP server does

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard that lets an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT call tools in another service. A Meta Ads MCP server offers tools like "list campaigns", "get insights" or "pause an ad set", and your assistant calls them when you ask a question in plain words. MCP connectors explained covers the protocol, sign-in and permissions in more depth.

The server decides what your assistant can see. A server that only talks to Meta can only repeat what Meta reports: purchases and purchase value that Meta attributes to your ads under your attribution setting. That's the same view as Ads Manager, and it's why Meta Ads and Shopify disagree about sales. For a brand with many returned orders, the gap between Meta's numbers and the money that stays in the business can be large.

Meta's official ads connector

Meta opened its ads AI connectors as an open beta on 29 April 2026. Its tools cover reporting, creating and editing campaigns, ad sets and ads, catalogs, the health of your pixel and Conversions API signals, A/B tests and lift studies, Help Center search and the account's activity log. In July 2026 Meta added rules that let the owner of a business portfolio limit what AI agents may do, for example blocking budget changes.

It is the natural first choice if you only advertise on Meta and want everything Meta offers in one place. The step-by-step setup is in using Claude with Meta Ads. What it can't tell you is whether a campaign made money after your returns, because Meta never sees which orders came back.

Pipeboard

Pipeboard is a third-party MCP service for Meta Ads, and its pricing page says it has Google Ads API access for production use. The free plan gives 30 AI tool calls a week on two ad account slots, without campaign or ad duplication. Paid plans remove the weekly cap: Pro comes with three ad account slots, Premium with ten and Agency with 25, and extra slots can be added to each. Check its pricing page for the current price.

Pipeboard suits agencies and brands that run Meta and Google Ads side by side and want an assistant to work across many ad accounts. Like Meta's connector, it reports what the ad platforms report.

Tera Ads Connect

Tera Ads Connect is the MCP server of Tera Ads, the profit dashboard for Shopify brands. Besides live Meta reads (campaigns, ad sets, ads, creatives, insights, targeting searches and audience estimates) it answers from your store: Shopify sales, estimated profit after returns with Meta and Google Ads spend taken off, and returns by month, with each returned order counted in the month it was placed.

If you allow it, your assistant can also pause and resume campaigns, ad sets and ads, change budgets, duplicate a campaign, and build new campaigns, ad sets and ads. Everything new starts paused and spends nothing until it's turned on, one budget change can at most triple a budget or cut it to a tenth, and every change is logged with an undo in Tera Ads. For each connection you choose: let your AI make changes, ask you first, or read only.

Worked example: what the connectors see

Take a month with $5,000 of Meta spend and $15,000 of purchase value reported by Meta: a 3.0× ROAS. Ask an assistant connected only to Meta whether to scale, and 3.0× looks healthy.

Now add what the store knows. Say $2,250 of those orders came back and were refunded, product cost is about $4,450, and shipping and payment fees are $1,500. After the $5,000 of ads, $1,800 is left: $0.36 of profit for each dollar of ads, not $3 of sales. That's still profitable, but a campaign with more returned orders than average can lose money while its Meta ROAS looks just as good. In cash-on-delivery markets such as India, count parcels returned to origin (RTO) as returns too.

From 3.0x in Ads Manager to the profit left after returns

These are illustrative numbers, not a benchmark. The point is the question each connector can answer: "what does Meta say?" or "what did we keep?". The true ROAS after returns guide shows how to work this out for your own store.

Which one to pick

  • You only run Meta Ads and want Meta's full tool set: start with Meta's connector.
  • You run Meta and Google Ads, or many client accounts, and want unlimited calls: Pipeboard is built for that.
  • You sell on Shopify and want answers in profit after returns: Tera Ads Connect.
  • You want both: assistants can use more than one connector. Many brands add Meta's connector for catalogs and tests, and Tera Ads Connect for profit and returns.

Whatever you choose, write down what the assistant may change before you connect it. The guide to safe AI access has a short policy you can copy.

Setting up Tera Ads Connect in Claude

  1. Copy the address. It's https://teraads.co/mcp.
  2. Add a custom connector. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it Tera Ads and paste the address.
  3. Sign in and pick the business. Claude opens Tera Ads; sign in, choose the business and how changes work.
  4. Turn it on in a chat. Choose + at the lower left, then Connectors, and switch Tera Ads on.
  5. Ask a first question. "What was my estimated profit after returns in the last 30 days?"

ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code take the same address; the Connect page has the steps for each.

Common mistakes

Scaling on platform ROAS alone. Check kept orders before you raise a budget, especially for campaigns with many returns.

Granting change access on day one. Start read-only or "ask me first" and widen access once the answers check out.

Comparing tool counts. Twenty more tools don't help if none of them answers your real question.

Forgetting the call limits. Free plans cap calls per week; a long analysis can use a week's allowance in one chat.

Not checking the first answers. Compare a few numbers with Ads Manager and Shopify before you rely on any connector.

Tera Ads shows Meta Ads and Google Ads spend beside your Shopify orders, with profit after returns, and Tera Ads Connect puts the same numbers inside your assistant. It's free for one business, with 30 Connect calls a week.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Meta Ads MCP server?

It depends on the question. Meta's connector has the widest Meta tool set, Pipeboard covers Meta and Google Ads with unlimited calls on paid plans, and Tera Ads Connect is the one that answers in profit after returns from your Shopify store.

Is there a free Meta Ads MCP?

Yes. Meta's connector is in open beta, Pipeboard's free plan gives 30 tool calls a week, and Tera Ads Connect is free for 30 calls a week on one ad account.

Can a Meta Ads MCP server change my campaigns?

All three can, within the access you grant. Tera Ads Connect creates new campaigns, ad sets and ads paused and logs every change with an undo.

Does Meta's ads connector know my Shopify sales?

No. It reports what Meta attributes to your ads. Store sales, returns and refunds live in Shopify, which is what Tera Ads Connect reads.

Can I use more than one connector at once?

Yes. Claude and ChatGPT can have several connectors switched on, and the assistant picks the right tool for each question.

Does Tera Ads Connect work with ChatGPT?

Yes, through ChatGPT's apps and developer mode settings, as well as in Claude, Cursor, VS Code and Claude Code.
